| Toothill Observatory – Open Nights |
| Owing to circumstances beyond our control, the Toothill observatory will no longer be opening to the public. There will, therefore, be no more open nights or group visits. This has been brought on by concerns about the security of the site infrastructure. Solent Amateur Astronomers deeply regrets that over 30 years of public open nights have come to an end. There will, however, be opportunities for members to observe at Toothill at times to be published. |
The club’s observatory at Toothill is located in a relatively dark site just outside Southampton, see map below.
It is still available for use by paid up members of the Society
Toilets and free parking are available.
The observatory contains:
- 14″ Meade telescope
- 8″ Celestron HD Edge
- 6″ Celestron Nexstar SE
- 20 x 80 binoculars
- Computer with desktop planetarium
